Have questions about volumetric mixer equipment, its uses, or the industry in general. Look below-perhaps your answer is there. If not, email your question to VMMB and we will do our best to provide you with an answer that will satisfy your needs. Click here to see archived FAQ's. 1. What is the calibration process and why is it important? 3. Why do you use an aeration system in the cement bin of a volumetric mixer? 1. What is the calibration process and why is it important? Answer: The calibration process involves weighing and recording the output of the mixer for each individual material to be used. It is the process by which gate settings are established and is necessary to ensure the proper mix design is being poured for the customer. 2. Why is it necessary to check the operation of the auger and aggregate feed system during the pre-trip inspections? Answer: The auger might be "locked up" from insufficiently washing it out the previous night. The aggregate feed system's belt may not turn due to the material settling or a rip or tear. The bottom line is that showing up on a job site with inoperable equipment is embarrassing and is a bad image for the industry and your company. 3. Why do you use an aeration system in the cement bin of a volumetric mixer? Answer: The cement can pack down (the bulk density changes), causing the cement to feed improperly or not at all. The aeration system keeps the cement in a constant state. |
